I have to write an update to my previous review after having tried the map again from a late safe-file. The map is more managable after having found the hidden path through the mountains as indicated in the mission message. The path requires some meticulous searching and I had to ask for help in order to find it eventually.

The battle against blue ist therefore much more managable if you have a sizeable army already. Also, it has saved me a lot of nerves and made the map more enjoyable to me. Basically it was my own fault that I tried this map the hard way before...

After our conversation, I made a video for people in the same situation: Route through the mountains.

In fact a very rare occassion I didn't enjoy this map as much as other Loobinex-maps, despite it being about Bile Demons - one of my favourite creatures.

I enjoyed the beginning part a lot and I found it interesting to put the hatcheries into the spot light - great idea! Converting the heroes was a nice idea but very time consuming. I guess this map must have taken me an entire evening for that, especially as the food sources are limited. At some point, I had wished there was the heal-spell available a bit earlier.

One thing I noticed is that this map has probably had the laziest bunch of Imps I have known so far. When I dropped them to claim tiles or fortify walls, they reluctantly did so and stopped again after a while. Therefore unclaimed areas and unfortified walls remained until I constantly pressured them to finish their jobs - ugh!

I also wasted quite a bit of time through creatures not going to the closest fully stocked hatchery but would wander around my dungeon to the farthest away hatchery possible. Therefore, my Bile Demons took their sweet time to finish their training and leveling up. Eventually I had to frameskip to have them at least get to level 8 or 9.

I hated fighting the mistresses (who doesn't hate fighting mistresses?). I have to admit though that I really liked the fact that you always seemed to be ahead of me, Loobinex. I thought I was being very clever luring a mistress out of their safe zone and capturing her. After I had converted her, I thought I am going to have an easy game with the rest. I was left in quite a shock when you just robbed me of her again xD. That was really really good!

The blue keeper fight took me ages too, as his creatures kept on replenishing and getting back to their guard posts. I had quite some trouble luring them onto the open field after I had reduced their number to 1/3. They wouldn't come out again. Also, I had no means to enter his dungeon due to the guard posts.

I was lucky to have caught a witch/priestess. I possessed her and destroyed the doors to the Keeper's Dungeon Heart. Of course, this took me ages too. Interestingly, I could peacefully smash the Dungeon Heart without being bothered by mistresses. This came quite to an surprise to me. Luckily, the final battle agains white was quite easy.

When I had finished the map I was relieved I could turn off the PC. It does leave me with a feeling of being unappreciative of your work though because you must have put quite some effort into it. I am pretty sure there must have been another way to play this map in a more enjoyable fashion.

My idea for this map was to prioritize which of the heroes you would take over, the rest you would torture to death. Then you would find the back tunnel through the mountains, and with call to arms, send in your entire army through in one go. I kept the numbers of blue low, so that when you rushed into their base, they would crumble and you would be victorious.

Why your imps were bugging out I do not know, this is not what should happen.
