Description

Your Dungeon Heart was born directly within solid rock. Therefore, you have pretty rough start conditions.

But the gods help you! They offer the chance to raise your KEEPER to level 10: Each level grants an unique ability... So better choose wisely!

(Note: This is not a regular map and needs more playtime than the standard ~1h. Expect a duration of 3-4h.)

Installation Instructions
  1. You have Version 1.2.0 with the LATEST(!) Alpha Patch installed
  2. Unpack the 'map07113.zip' into \levels\standard\
  3. In main menu -> 'Free Play levels' -> 'Standard' -> 'Skill Your Keeper'

What an exciting map! I am still amazed that creative minds like you can still come up with fresh ideas for a 30 years old game like DK. I played this map on hard (Alpha 1.2.0_4748) and had quite a bit of a challenge, in particular with 2 keepers. Not sure if I had been able to beat the map if I had made different choices - and that's where the beauty in your map is: there is so much re-playability.

A few things I noticed:

  1. The Create Imp spell wasn't working properly for me. I was able to click on the icon but couldn't activate it. I figured out that if I selected the spell "Sight" (not Sight Of Evil) and then went back to Create Imp it was able to be cast.
  2. The holy water in the final hero fortress seemed to be a little buggy. It was almost impossible for me to encourabe my creatures to attack enemies, doors or even the Dungeon Heart of the enemy as they were rather interested in fighting the spots of holy water ending up in an infinite loop.

I really hope you are keen on working on different maps in future. I really enjoy your work!

Real fun map with a great gimmick. I played on medium and it was pretty chill throughout, but it never felt too easy. Vampires felt pretty overpowered for how early you got them.

There is an bug in the early game where when the imp-spell gets reenabled when it is your only spell, you still cannot cast it. I assume this is a bug in KeeperFX and not in your script.

Was a fun map. Step by step moving forward on insane but for me it wasnt insane. No stressful moments.

great & unique map, would love to see more of these. had some fun on insane.

maybe you could ally all keepers and white, I used to lure the orcs into the bile demons and killed the bile demons with the skellys and finished off what was left with my army and gained 3 quick level ups by that, made it easier as intended on insane i guess.

also maybe give orange a temple, coz his reapers rebelled at some point

5/5 and 2/5 diff with the possibility to cheese.

played it on hard and it was very well. the last keepers were pretty hard to deal with, took me some attempts. highly recommended

Fantastic level with a great idea behind it. High replayability too because of it.

Having to use weak creatures and slowly increasing the quality of the minions you can use change the way you play Dungeon Keeper and it kind of makes me wish it was like that in the regular game. The map is well balanced, nothing is a walk in the park since you're quite limited until the very end of the map. It can also be as hard as one wants, have fun playing with flies and choosing +1 attribute at every levels.

5/5 2/5 difficulty, the last two Keepers were no joke despite my massive lvl 7 vampire army.

One very, very minor issue: the description of the holy water is not set properly (it shows a level winning message instead).

And thank you also for reporting the bug with the description of the holy water. But I cannot reprodruce this: Are you sure, you run the latest alpha? If so, please let me know so I can investigate. There were NO other text problems? Because it's strange, that only that one is buggy...

By "latest", which one are we talking about? The very last one posted?

Then again it's so minor it doesn't matter.

EDIT: I checked in the editor with a reveal map special, I can't reproduce it. Best forget about it. I'll try to check again after a second playthrough, and after I've uploaded to the very last version as I'm still on v4504.

You comment led me to make templates of this map containing the skill-tree and difficulty-field. It is now in the workshop, so maybe you will see some other maps with this, which are not mine. Thanks for your comment! <3

I saw that on the discord, this is great! I'll take a look at them and see if I can learn from the scripts. And hey, if I'm ever done making my "campaign", maybe I'll try and use one template and try it myself.
