This is not an RTS level. Instead, you take on the role of the Avatar and control him with Possession or Call-To-Arms!
In his new home in Hero City and initially weak, the Avatar must prove himself in 10 quests in various biomes!
How will he fight?
What will he learn?
Will he free the realm from evil?
An RPG adventure in which you take on the role of the Avatar
Completely self-determined skill tree for his abilities and stats
I was really enjoying this until quest number 2 and I couldn't get passed the impenatrble rock that appears trying to get to the dark wizard temple. After an hour of meandering around I got bored and moved onto another campaign. Really great idea just some of the challenges need a bit more explaining or some hints
This bug is known and occurs, if you don't follow the first step! Make sure, you updated to 1.2.0 WITH the latest alpha patch. (That is needed for all levels in this workshop with the yellow exclamation mark)
Back again, finally maanged to play through and really enjoyed it! Thank you for producing this - it was great to play DK as an FPS RPG and really loved the way the map unfolded. My only question was at the end of the game in the top right hand of the map there was 2 avatars out of 6 boxes - what does this mean?
Thank you very much! Nice to hear, that you like it! :)
The Avatars are the "safe" copies of your Avatar to make sure, its Exp is saved on his revive:
Normally, if you die at (lets say) level 3 and I just add a level 3 Avatar for revival, it would be level 3 with NO experience points. That would be fatal on this level! (Imagine you die with 95% exp and go back to 0%... You will never level up)
Therefore, each 10th frame, i make a copy of your creatures (so the Avatar and maybe the Hellhound if you found it), move them to the top right. The Hellhound directly runs into the lava and gets killed, because we don't need a copy of it. To reduce the sound and animation of blood, I place lava beneath, so they die quiet. After a few frames, the Avatar gets killed and copied again, to have an "updated" Avatar with the same amount of experience point as the Players.
Because you could die EXACTLY at the frame, the copy was killed (="reset") there would be no Avatar to copy, so there are TWO Avatar copies, one at frame 10, one at frame 20. So there is always a copy of your Avatar to copy back to the player on rivival.
All of this happens in one single frame, so the player doesn't notice anything.
Thanks I am using 1.2.0.4191 alpha with this and so thought that would be okay - is there a different version I need to make this work? Really love what you have done here and am keen to play it all the way through
