Description

Current Campaign Version: 1.1

Be sure to use the newest alpha to play this campaign! Many essential features will not work correctly on older KeeperFX versions.

This campaign features 6 main levels, but a lot of bonus levels and a lot of custom content. As you progress through the campaign, you will be able to customize your creatures and give them new abilities. These changes will persist through all the different levels in this campaign!

Features:

  • Playing as the blue keeper (again)
  • New graphics and various new gameplay elements, like new creatures, custom Keeper spells and custom traps (constructs that can be built in the workshop to buff your creatures)
  • Progression between maps and in-depth creature customization, allowing you to pick their abilities and stats
  • Rebalancing of some base creatures to make some underutilized creatures more useful, some have even received entirely new skills
  • New temple recipes

Story:

The Sapphire Realms... these realms are ruled by a ruthless, evil overlord. Said evil overlord is you! But there are rumors of an uprising of a rival keeper, who is not satisfied with letting you rule these lands. Defend yourself against your rival, and strike back with your loyal army of Mistresses. In every land, you must seek out the shrines to further strengthen your Mistresses.

The story is a sequel to Sapphire Realms, but can absolutely be played as a standalone experience.

Custom soundtrack:

This campaign has a full, new soundtrack. The music is compiled from various other games, but not directly included with the download on the KeeperFX workshop due to its larger filesize. The campaign is perfectly playable without the music, but I would recommend playing it with the new soundtrack! To download the soundtrack, check here. To install the music, simply unzip the archive into the campaign subfolder pandaemonium_media so that the mp3 files are in campgns\pandaemonium_media\campaign_music.

If you encounter any bugs or have any feedback or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment here, or let me know on the Discord server.

Known issues: The voice lines on the overworld are a placeholder I’ll hopefully get around to replacing soon in a future version.

Special thanks: Loobinex, qqluqq and all contributors of the KeeperFX project Ermin for making many of the custom creatures used in this campaign dragoonlich for the globby (ability orb) sprite All playtesters and players who gave feedback (especially Krizzie, Ograoum, Spat and PlebCrusher)

v 1.1

  • Many small changes (quality of life, slight balance adjustments, bugfixes, text changes, aesthetical changes)
  • Fixed some sequence breaks
  • Made the maps where all enemy creatures need to be killed smoother to beat
  • Slightly reduced the max creature cap for the enemy keeper in realm 5
  • Buffed Tentacle's Word of Disease to last roughly 50% longer
  • Fixed enemy keeper's color in Postgame Realm 2
Installation Instructions

Installation instructions:

Unzip to your campgns folder. The pandaemonium folders and the pandaemonium.cfg file need to be inside your campgns folder. Afterwards you can find the campaign under Start New Game.

For instructions on how to install the custom soundtrack, check the readme in the soundtrack download, or the note in the description above.

Very good missions! But I still haven't figured out how to mine gems in the corner of the map without a bridge at the last level?

Thank you! And there is actually way to create bridges! You can use Cave-In on lava (and water) to turn it into regular terrain. But, I am planning to make that a bit more obvious by adding another hint for the player since I can imagine that the notification is pretty missable when you first get Cave-In in level 4.

Ah! Yes, apparently, I somehow missed this hint. I realized that I didn't know anything about the new mechanics and just set the path with a cheat ;) Thanks!

Don't worry, you weren't the only one to be a bit confused. I've hopefully made it more obvious now, or at least added another reminder that'll be in the next version. Thanks for the feedback!

Ah, my one of my) favourite map makers :-)...

Back then, I was already excited about playing Sapphire Realms and now I cannot believe my luck to be bable play another fun campaign which brought back all the good memories about the fun and new game play mechanics. I loved everything about Pandaemonium - the lore, the atmosphere, the way the mistress was put once more into spot light as well as the dramaturgy constantly building up until a grand finale. My favourite map though was the one with the huge lava lake and the armageddon spell which has become one of my all time favourite maps in regards of creativity and diversity in game play.

I haven't tried the secret levels as normally I have never really liked secret levels due to their gimicky nature. Perhaps I am wrong in regard of this campaign and I'll come back later and try them out.

I appreciate that my levels left that much of an impression, haha!

Atmosphere is definitely something I like leaning into. Story isn't necessarily my direct focus, but it does help with making it more intriguing to want to explore, so I'm glad that came through well on the whole! To me, exploration was always one of the most fun bits of the original campaign.

Funnily enough, that lava level was one I initially was very unhappy with, before I redesigned it entirely into the state it is now, so that paid off well.

And that's fair, especially posession heavy maps can be pretty hit or miss. I'd say there is some stuff worth seeing in the bonus levels though, I would recommend giving them at least a look!

This campaign is very well designed and peak of what can be done in Keeper FX currently. I enjoyed it very much, but I mostly played older maps so far so there was a lot of new stuff for me:. Features, creatures, traps, spells... some stuff is also custom made Like Candles with special effects which make things more interesting. I would probably enjoy campaign to be more challanging/difficult.

I would buff Melee version of Mistresses as it felt to be weaker than classic Lightning spell version

Thanks for playing and recording the campaign! The difficulty is mostly fairly modest since it's hard to judge the powerlevel a player is going to end up with. I wanted to make sure it doesn't get too nasty if someone didn't pick the strongest skills.

One way to make it harder would be picking Mistresses with a different skillset, there's definitely space for a challenge run.

I wanted to keep the spells as they are as much as I can, but I may later do something like slightly nerfing the recast time for Lightning, we'll see.

I had strong expectations after playing Sapphire Realms, and the sequel more than delivers.

The levels are on the easier side for the most part, except maybe the last level and post-game level 1. The returning "gimmick" of the custom Mistresses, coupled to the handicap you can activate once you've finished the campaign bring a lot of replayability.

Exceptional level design and very fun bonus levels. Easy 5/5 with 2/5 overall difficulty.

Now it needs a 20-levels campaign.

Much appreciated for playing and testing the campaign! Yeah, I'm glad it turned out more casual and easy on average. As for the 20-level campaign, I'll leave the honor to other mapmakers, if someone else wants to pick up the same sort of template. Making all of these levels was already a good chunk of work. I think the potential for it is definitely there though!
