Updated: Included new third person version with alternative less pixelated flame animation. Kept old one as an alternative as some people still preferred this version
Work on this asset is now complete.
Description:
Recreation of the monument shown in many pre-release screenshots and videos for Dungeon Keeper, but sadly never made it into the final game... until now!
Includes:
-
Monu_fp = First Person
-
Monu_tp = Third Person (updated version)
-
Monu_tp_old = Alternative third person (old version)
Extras:
-
flame - First person flame anim (upscaled from Magic Carpet game)
-
flame_sml - Third person flame anim (from Magic Carpet game)
-
dk1.act - DK1 palette file for Adobe Photoshop
-
code.txt = code to get working ingame,
NOTES:
-
I would recommend adding a small light radius in its code too.
-
'Monu_tp' .png, you will need to remove a single frame so it matches the 'Monu_fp' anim to work ingame.
-
I guess you could even use both versions of Third Person on maps to add a bit of variation if you wanted and didnt mind the pixelation of the older version.
woaw great! Beautifull!
Great work! Really nice to see some of the prerelease stuff get brought back, especially something as good as this! Good work!
If you do need (what's left of) the flame animations, I think they're at https://github.com/dkfans/FXGraphics/tree/main/enginefx/sprites-32/fire/flame1, but what you've done looks damn good.
I've uploaded an updated .gif of tp version with this flame, is it an improvement?
I think so!
I have updated the files so that this is now included.
Due to the very close resemblance to objects included in the original game, I have to say that I think it's a shame that they didn't carry this over to the endgame. luckily you took over this part many years later and it's nice to see it after such a long time in the game. You've done a stunning job
Thanks, I've just updated files to include updated Third Person version with less pixelated flame using a completely different animation.
I know you preferred the original, I guess you could even use both versions on maps to add a bit of variation if you wanted. :-)
