Description

First proposal for a "competitive" ruleset. So far the only bundled map are the 10 maps from the "Biervampir's MP Map Pack", which were used for the tests.

Thanks Shinthoras for the Tier idea and icons.

Changes

1/ Tier system

To prevent OP creatures attracted from the first second without changing all the room requirements, we implemented a Tier system.

Creatures are now ranked by Tiers. To attract a creature from a specific Tier, the player has to reach the corresponding research milestone (except Tier 0 creatures, which can be attracted from the start).

  • Tier 0: Fly, Beetle, Spider
  • Tier 1 (unlocked when the Workshop is researched): Demonspawn, Troll, Warlock

Skeleton and Ghost also belong to Tier 1, but can rarely be found in the portal pool.

  • Tier 2 (unlocked when the Barracks is researched): Druid, Maiden, Hellhound, Orc, Bile Demon)
  • Tier 3 (unlocked when the Temple is researched): Dragon, Dark Mistress

Vampire and Horny also belong to Tier 3, but can rarely be found in the portal pool.

The room requirements for the creatures still apply, on top of the Tier unlocking.

2/ Training values

The TrainingValue of creatures has been adjusted to match the Tier system:

  • Tier 0 and Tier 1 creatures now have a TrainingValue of 2 (except Demonspawn, Skeleton and Ghost who have a TrainingValue of 3)
  • Tier 2 and Tier 3 creatures now have a TrainingValue of 3 (except Horny who has a TrainingValue of 2)

3/ Room requirements

  • Dragon now have 9 tiles of Scavenger Room as 3rd room requirement.

It ensures that this is the last creature to be attracted, and made sense given its base ScavengeValue.

  • Hellhound is attracted by 9 tiles of Guard Post instead of Scavenger Room

It allows players to attract them earlier during the game.

4/ Research and spells

  • Workshop and Bridge are swapped in the research path

It makes Tier 1 unlocking really quick, and allows players to make some use of the workshop earlier.

It also slows down a bit the early game on maps where bridges are mandatory to expand.

  • Lightning Strike Keeper Spell is now only castable on Owned Ground
  • Research turns reduced for Armageddon (100k => 40k) and Destroy Walls (750k => 80k)
  • Reduced Armageddon warning (500 => 200) and duration (4000 => 2000) game turns
  • Reduced Hold Audience duration (500 => 200) game turns

5/ Other adjustments

  • Fly now learns Speed at lvl2 (instead of 8) and Sight at lvl3 (instead of 5)

Flies level up and explore faster with Speed and can survive a bit longer. They also are a very easy counter to Invisibility.

  • Temple recipe for mistress removed.

To prevent the conversion of all the Tier 0 creatures in an immense army of lvl 6 mistresses as soon as the temple is available.

  • Tentacles temporarily removed.

The idea is to add them back in the future, but we wanted to not change too many things for a first ruleset proposal.

  • Dungeon Heart regeneration increased.
